This type of inspection must be carried out by a competent person and can take place weekly, monthly, or quarterly. Some crane components that must be checked during a routine inspection include controls, emergency and safety switches, lubrication of moving parts, important indicators, filters, brakes, gears, fasteners, pins, shafts, wire ropes, sheaves, locking devices, and electrical contractors.
Annual inspection, ultimately, is conducted yearly. This type of inspection can determine the presence of structural wear, corrosion, cracks, and other damages to important crane components. Similar to routine inspections, annual inspections must follow the instructions of the crane manufacturers and must be done by a competent or qualified person.
